As unlikely as it is for Indian cricket fans, but yes it was when they locked horns with New Zealand at Rajkot for the second T20I game on Saturday. And while India skipper did shower a bit of praise on Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his efforts, Twitterati trolled the veteran for what was described as a 'gymnast' act.
It happened in the seventeenth over of India's innings. Mitchell Santner was in for his final over. Dhoni, with a pre-meditated strike, shimmied down the track, but was left outfoxed by the spinner who had placed it well wide of the batsman. Wicketkeeper Glenn Phillips comfortably collected the ball behind the stumps and castled down the wickets in a bid to stump Dhoni out, but lucky for the right-handed as he made a complete split to put his leg into the crease
While the umpire denied Kiwi appeal after reviewing it, Twitter was already flooded with tweets and memes trolling the veteran not only for this act, but also for his inability to rotate strike at the middle
